The Tempest by William Shakespeare - Additional Auditions

AUDITION CALL FOR SHAKESPEARE'S THE TEMPEST

Friday 22nd November at 7.30 and Saturday 23rd November at 3pm at the Ice Factory Studio Theatre.

Due to a change in some cast members' availability, the Teignmouth Players are looking for two more actors for their production of the Tempest (performance dates 18th - 22nd February, including a Saturday matinee).

One part is that of Prospero, the principal role, which needs to be male, and we will consider anyone aged 30 or above.

The other part is that of Antonio, Prospero's brother, which could be male or female, and we will consider anyone aged 25 or above.

The age range for both these parts is very flexible and will depend to some extent on who else is cast. Rehearsals prior to Christmas will aim to fit around prior commitments, but cast members must be available for a fairly intensive January rehearsal schedule.

Nicole's production of Romeo and Juliet became the highest grossing show for the 2018/19 season.

Director Nicole Davall

Prospero, the lost Duke of Milan, uses magic to conjure a storm to shipwreck a boat carrying his usurping brother, Antonio, and the King of Naples (amongst others).

Prospero’s slave Caliban takes the opportunity to join up with two victims of the shipwreck, Trinculo and Stephano, in an attempt to take over the Island. But they are thwarted by the spirit Ariel under Prospero’s command. Meanwhile Ferdinand, son of the King of Naples, falls in love with Prospero’s daughter, Miranda. Their courtship is cut short when Prospero confronts his brother and reasserts his position as the rightful Duke of Milan. Families are re-united and all conflict is apparently resolved.

Join us at the Ice Factory Studio Theatre, Somerset Place for a read through and auditions of Shakespeare’s Tempest, directed by Nicole Davall. The production will be staged at The Ice Factory from Tuesday 18th to Saturday 22nd February 2020.

We are looking for a cast of 13-15 people. There are a number of roles which could potentially be gender swapped. The roles that will most likely not be gender swapped are Prospero, Miranda, Ferdinand, Sebastian and probably Caliban. Everything else is up for grabs. We also need a mix of young and old.

Nicole directed the Players’ Romeo and Juliet, which became the highest grossing production for 2019 at the Ice Factory so far, with sell out houses.

The read through – Tuesday 1st October at 7.30.
First audition – Sunday 6th October at 2.30
Second audition – Wednesday 9th October at 7.30

Everyone welcome
